LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Landscape Architecture started its activities in the Faculty of Agriculture on 08.09.2000 with the appointment of Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdullah KELKİT as the head of the department. With the decision number 12 taken at the meeting of the University Senate dated 01.02.2001 and numbered 1, the Landscape Architecture Master's program was opened at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Institute of Science and Technology, and the Master's degree program was started in the Department of Landscape Architecture in the 2001-2002 academic year and the undergraduate education started in the 2007-2008 academic year. Founded in 2012, the Department of Landscape Architecture transferred to the Faculty of Architecture and Design with its academic staff and students. There are 2 Professors, 2 Associate Professors, 6 Assistant Professors, 2 Research Assistants and 1 Specialist.
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
Landscape Architecture, one of the most popular professions of the twenty-first century, examines the concepts of nature, planning and design in a systematic structure; bringing together science, art, engineering and technology; It is a professional discipline dealing with area design, planning and management.
FIELDS OF STUDY
Planning and design of areas and spaces created for the society and seen as the necessities of modern life such as national parks and nature reserves, coastal areas, wetlands, urban open and green areas, tourism and recreation areas, arboretums, exhibition and fairgrounds, university campuses, botanical and zoological gardens are among the important fields of study of the Landscape Architecture profession. Landscape architects make site selection for various uses such as parks, gardens, tourism and recreation areas, university campuses, residential areas, commercial centers, public buildings, and produce land use decisions at both local and regional scales.
FIELDS OF STUDY
They work in the private sector in organizations based on professional or inter-professional cooperation within the scope of environmental planning and design, environmental impact assessment, landscape management (planning, maintenance and repair), ornamental plant cultivation and marketing.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Those who want to work in the field of Landscape Architecture should be people who love and observe nature, have a knowledge and interest in ecology, have aesthetic vision, and be able to coordinate and organize with other related professions.
TITLE EARNED BY GRADUATES
Those who complete the Landscape Architecture education and training program gain the title of "Landscape Architect".
